World Space Week

October 4, 1957, marks the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik, thus paving the way for space exploration. And, October 10, 1967, in remembrance of the signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, every year, the week between these significant events is celebrated as World Space Week. This year, we celebrate the theme Women in Space.

Women In Space

This year's theme is WOMEN IN SPACE, honouring the extraordinary journey of talented, intelligent women in the space industry. It gives immense pleasure to say that SSERD is the vision that 26-year-old entrepreneur Nikhitha C. had when she co-founded the prosperous Society for Space Education Research and Development (SSERD), an NGO based out in Bengaluru. At SSERD, the focus was always on giving girls and women a solid platform to come forward and present themselves through our various past events. This entire week will be dedicated to celebrating the awards and achievements of exceptional women and their stunning contributions to their targeted fields. SSERD believes in sharing knowledge and growing together as a community by organizing various sessions, discussions and training by highly experienced guest speakers in the space domain for our fellow sisters and mates who can benefit from it and rise in all aspects, including the career, personality, and whole as an individual. SSERD encourages all the girls and Women who are space enthusiasts and planning to build a career in Space to be part of this week-long Program.
